SECOND GENERATION SERVICEMEMBER
Judge Jones is a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves. Judge Jones is the son of a career Army Non-Commissioned Officer. As an undergraduate, Judge Jones attended Tuskegee University where he was active in the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) and a senior member of the National Society of Pershing Rifles—Drill Team. ACTIVE DUTY Judge Jones entered the Army as a Field Artillery Officer in 2001. While in the active component of the Army, he served as the Battalion Fire Support Officer for the 4th Battalion, 227th Regiment Attack Reconnaissance Battalion. Prior to that duty, he functioned as the Operations Officer for 17th Field Artillery Brigade, the Battalion Liaison Officer in the 5th Battalion, 3rd Artillery “First Round”; the Battalion Logistics Officer in the 3rd Battalion, 18th Field Artillery “Steel Professionals”; the Executive Officer for Alpha Battery, 3-18th Field Artillery; and a Platoon Leader and Executive Officer for the 6-37 Field Artillery Battalion (Republic of Korea). DEPLOYMENTS Judge Jones deployed twice to Southwest Asia to support Operation Iraqi Freedom; first as a Platoon Leader and Battalion Logistics Officer and again as a Fire Support Officer for an Aviation Attack Reconnaissance Battalion. While on active duty, DaSean participated in various large-scale training exercises such as Ardent Sentry (Homeland security) and Ulchi Focus Lens (Joint simulation with the Korean Army). RESERVE DUTY After several years of active service, Judge Jones joined the 211th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment (MPAD) where he served during his first two years of law school. Upon completing law school, Judge Jones worked in the 1st Legal Operations Detachment (“LOD”) (Legal Assistance); 22nd LOD (Trial Defense Counsel), the 420 Engineer Brigade (Assistant Brigade Judge Advocate), a Team Chief in the 87th LOD (Special Victims Counsel), the Command Judge Advocate for a Training Command, Senior Trial Counsel for the 377th Theater Sustainment Command, and currently a military judge. MILITARY EDUCATION Judge Jones military education includes the: Military Judge Course, Command General Staff College (Intermediate Level Education Common Core), Intelligence Law Course, Judge Advocate Officer Advanced Course, Judge Advocate Officer Basic Course, Armor Captain’s Career Course, Cavalry Leadership Course, Modern Army Combatives Program (Level II Instructor Certified), Joint Fire Control Course, Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, and Airborne School. MILITARY DECORATIONS Judge Jones military honors include: the Combat Action Badge, Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal with one oak leaf cluster; the Army Commendation Medal, with one oak leaf cluster; the Army Achievement Medal, with one oak leaf cluster; the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal; the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; the Korean Defense Service Medal; the Army Service Ribbon; the Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Overseas Training Ribbon. |
